The CivicLab is a Black run "do tank" dedicated to accelerating and deepening government accountability, grassroots democracy, civic engagement and social justice efforts, and preparing justice champions to fight for change. We operate the CivicLab, The TIF Illumination Project, The "Chicago Is Not Broke Project," The POWER Institute, and The TIF Elimination Project. Our work has directly touched over 200,000 people since 2013. We've been invited to present at over 160 public meetings across the city. We have succeeded in expanding Chicago's civic imagination to make a better city possible.
