SURJ Baltimore hosts a day of education, training, and planning for the Maryland legislative session on January 20th, 2018 at the Cathedral of the Incarnation, 4 E University Parkway in Baltimore, MD.
We are aiming to raise enough to provide a $150 or more honorarium for each of our accountability partners, the $200 space rental fee, and $50 for other expenses like printing. Any amount above our goal will be given to the organizations who are making presentations. (Leaders of a Beautiful Struggle, Out for Justice, and CASA).
The event is free and open to the public, but contributions are greatly appreciated!
RSVPs are required for this event! RSVP at https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdUjXvYwnitbZzoCzjLkS1C1rbAqQ6MEgsi4MgumoUsZHs3dg/viewform?usp=sf_link

-District break-outs --connect with other people in your district to plan and strategize.
People from districts outside of Baltimore City are strongly encouraged to attend! The more districts that are represented, the more effective we can be during the legislative session.
ABOUT SURJ
SURJ Baltimore is a chapter of the national organization Showing Up for Racial Justice (showingupforracialjustice.org).
Showing Up for Racial Justice (SURJ)'s goal as part of a multi-racial movement is to undermine white support for white supremacy and to help build a racially just society. That work cannot be done in isolation from or disconnected from the powerful leadership of communities of color. It is one part of a multi-racial, cross-class movement centering people of color leadership. Therefore, SURJ believes in resourcing organizing led by people of color, and maintaining strong accountability relationships with organizers and communities of color as a central part of our theory of change.
