Adas Israel Social Action Committee

Our rabbis teach: "You are not required to complete the work, but you are not free to evade it, either." (Pirkei Avot, 2:21). Ours is an obligation to help bring about tikkun olam, the repair or perfection of the world. Working to make the world a better place is a sacred act when we perform it within the context of Torah and a Jewish community. We at Adas Israel are proud of our activism and efforts at achieving social justice – from collecting food and preparing meals for individuals in homeless shelters or programs, rehabilitating homes of elderly, disabled or financially distressed individuals, advocating for increased housing for homeless and low income residents, to promoting the sale of solar cookers for Darfuri refugees.

The Social Action Council welcomes all who want to contribute their time and talent to our many projects and activities. SAC volunteers find satisfaction in their efforts and create new friendships within our Adas Israel community. We encourage you to contact activity coordinators or Social Action Chair Jamie Butler to talk about your interests and how you can get involved.
