Friends of Bill Cook

Bethesda, MD

My name is Bill Cook and I am proud to have lived in Montgomery County for most of my life. Growing up in Montgomery County has afforded me a great education, economic opportunity, and a supportive community full of diversity and culture.

I grew up in a union household, attended the public high school, Walt Whitman, and at age 15, took my first job in downtown Bethesda at Gifford’s Ice Cream. After high school, I went on to study communications at the University of Maryland and I have lived and worked in Montgomery County ever since. I’ve had a successful career as a marketing consultant and I currently run my own business as a videographer.

My parents and siblings live nearby in Bethesda, Rockville, and Poolesville. I have three siblings, five nieces, and one nephew— all of us live in Montgomery County. I value family, honesty, and hard work.

Over the course of my life, I have volunteered and raised money for several charities including The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society and The Children’s Tumor Foundation.

As an activist, I have volunteered my time for democratic campaigns and progressive causes including local issues like raising the minimum wage, paid leave, fossil fuel divestment, and banning fracking in Maryland. I will continue fighting for progressive causes as your representative on the Montgomery County Council.
