LVDSA Palestine Solidarity Working Group
As socialists, we understand that building power to change the structures of inequality that are currently in action across the world includes working in solidarity with oppressed working class people everywhere. With this in mind, we are resolved to demonstrate our solidarity with the Palestinian resistance movement. We agree with the following as declared by Palestinian Civil Society in the call for Boycott, Divestment and sanction actions directed against the state of Israel, first made in 2005
“Since 1948, Israel has denied Palestinians their fundamental rights and has refused to comply with international law. Israel maintains a regime of settler colonialism, apartheid and occupation over the Palestinian people. This is only possible because of international support. Governments fail to hold Israel to account, while corporations and institutions across the world help Israel to oppress Palestinians.” We heed the call for all citizens to act in solidarity with the “Palestinian struggle for freedom, justice and inequality.” We resolve to provide resources for the education of the local working class to put pressure on their political, economic and cultural leaders to end the support for Israeli occupation and oppression of Palestine and its people respectively.
