#PoliceFreeSchools Salem

During a Salem Keizer School Board Meeting, Board of Member Paul Kyllo did Blackface for an entire hour and 30 minutes. No one else on the school board stopped him. Instead they laughed. Both the school district board chair, Marty Heyen, and vice chair, Jesse Lippold, showed they were amused.

This is the same board that must decide whether funds that place School Resource Officers should be divested to reinvest in the education and lives of Black and Brown students. How can we trust them to make an unbiased decision?

We ask that the Salem Keizer School Board member Paul Kyllo RESIGN from his position.
Our demands to the Salem Keizer School District are simple:
1. Remove police from schools
2. That School Board Member Paul Kyllo resigns from his position and Marty Heyen aswell for her white supremacist ties.
3. Remove any school board members aligned with white supremacy beliefs/groups
4. For all the other school board officials to issue a clear apology and indicate their stance on white supremacy
Blackface and other forms of white supremacy have no space in our community. For too long, Black communities accross the world have fought racism. It is time our school district stands up to RACISM!
