survivor justice

[city],

An action group for survivors who have been victims of sexual crimes within their family of origin or other circumstance.

We aim to raise awareness of the profound effects of sexual violence on our lives as women, men and other gender identifications. We will design campaigns to lobby for increased support services for survivor recovery.

In Australia, there is only minimal programs and psychological & psycho-social support services in the community, mostly with long waiting lists. There is no integrated program that would include legal actions to get some justice.

People who have been sexually assaulted whether as children or adults need time to heal and recover. This takes them out of the workforce and inevitably into poverty. With such a long recovery, many live a half life for years juggling casual work and family responsibilities.

The normal recovery period for the trauma of sexual assault is usually up to ten years or more.
