Action Alert: Tell Congress to Prioritize People with Medicare

Medicare provides critical health coverage to millions of older adults and people with disabilities. But gaps in benefits, rising costs, and archaic rules mean far too many beneficiaries can struggle to access and afford their care. The pandemic has exacerbated these and other challenges, underscoring the need for a budget reconciliation bill that offers swift, meaningful, and lasting relief.

Unfortunately, the "Build Back Better" reconciliation bill framework released on October 28 fails to meet the moment. While it takes important steps forward, it leaves key Medicare policies—including prescription drug reform and an expansion of Part B to cover dental and vision care—behind.

There is still time to make a difference! Tell your lawmakers to support a final bill that:

  • Makes Prescription Drugs More Affordable by allowing Medicare to negotiate drug prices, capping and smoothing beneficiary out-of-pocket drug costs, and restructuring the Part D benefit to reduce Medicare’s liability and better align pricing incentives.

  • Improves Access to Dental, Vision, and Hearing Care by adding coverage for these services to Part B.

These urgently needed and overwhelmingly popular reforms would improve affordability, modernize coverage, and advance equity. Older adults, people with disabilities, and their families need help now. They can’t afford to wait any longer.
