Ask Your Legislators to Support Legislation to Lift Families Out of Deep Poverty

Please contact your State Senator, and State Representative and ask them support legislation to increase cash assistance grants in Massachusetts.

The costs of food and other household necessities such as diapers, toiletries, and medicine, have risen significantly over the past decade, particularly during the pandemic. Meanwhile, the state has failed to keep up with investments in cash assistance programs that support the lowest income families in the Commonwealth. Consequently, there are 26,000 families with children, and 20,000 elders and persons with disabilities in Massachusetts who are struggling to get by with incomes far below federal poverty levels. Increasing TAFDC and EAEDC grants is critical to helping these households access the essentials they need to survive.

Take action today by asking your legislators to support passage of S.96 and H.199!
