Ask your senator to support budget amendments for public education!

WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT? There are many steps to reach our goal of equitable and adequate school funding. Each step of the way, we need to make our voices heard and keep up the pressure on legislators to do the right thing for our public school students. Thanks for your efforts, letters and calls so far. Now we need you to contact your legislators once more!

WHAT'S HAPPENING NOW: The Massachusetts Senate Ways and Means Committee has released a budget proposal with provisions that affect funding for K-12 and public higher education. The full Senate will debate the proposal starting Tuesday, May 21.

WHAT YOU CAN DO: Contact your State Senator as soon as possible, but no later than Monday, May 20, and urge them to support several critical amendments to the Ways and Means proposal.  Please click the letter -- personalize with your own message to underscore why it is so important that the Senate budget address things like accurate counting and adequate funding for low-income students, higher education affordability, reimbursements for money diverted to charter schools and charter school accountability.

Thank you for taking action!
