Better streets and public space for the Inner West!

Inner West Council has released a draft development plan for consultation called Fairer Future for the Inner West to build over 30,000 new homes in the area. However, the Plan falls short of providing the investment needed to accomodate this growth. This includes:
Increase in public space: Only 20cm² of public space per additional resident is planned - less than 135 times the NSW Government benchmarks. Also much of this space will only be delivered many years from now after developments are complete.
Make firm commitments to active transport and streetscape improvements: Only 0.6% of Inner West roads have protected bike lanes. The plan has either limited or no firm commitments to deliver additional streetscape improvements or active transport links along key development corridors.
Increase tree canopy: The Plan currently will reduce Inner West's low and declining tree canopy - currently well below half the Sydney-wide target of 40%).
To make sure Council's Plan includes clear commitments to deliver better streets and public spaces, fill out your details to make a submission. Get in quick as the consultation closes on 6 July!
