Build the Grace Street Greenway!

On Monday, July 28th, the Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and Alderpeople from the 44th, 46th, and 47th wards will be holding a community meeting to present CDOT's plan for a new greenway running along Grace Street from the lakeside to the Chicago River. Your voice is critically import in helping our alderman ensure this plan becomes a reality.
Bike ridership in Chicago is growing by leaps and bounds. Over the last five years alone, cycling mode share has more than doubled and neighborhoods like those around Grace Street have seen some of the largest growth. With amenities like Horner Park, Paul Revere Park, Lane Tech, Wrigley Field, four CTA stations on the Red and Brown lines, and multiple commercial corridors all in close proximity to an already lower stress route, Grace Street is the perfect candidate for a greenway upgrade.
Greenways are a vital part of creating a network of low stress streets so that cyclists can safely travel across the city. They help connect cyclists to other existing bike routes, and have positive effects for that extend beyond just cyclists. Road treatments like these are proven to calm traffic and improve the safety of pedestrians and drivers in addition to cyclists.
Your voice helps make our city and neighborhoods better. Let CDOT and the Alderpeople for this plan know that you support the Grace Greenway!
