Broadcasters have been exploiting the singers and musicians who create the music for decades by using their copyrighted works without providing any remuneration, a practice that needs to be rectified in this modern era.
On Wednesday, June 26, at 2:00 pm, AFM Local 257 member Randy Travis will testify before the House Subcommittee on Courts, Intellectual Property, and the Internet to support H.R. 791, the American Music Fairness Act (AMFA), a bipartisan bill that would provide a much-needed terrestrial public performance right for sound recordings.
Working together, we can help pass this critical legislation and finally provide royalty payments to artists, session musicians, and vocalists when their recordings are broadcast over AM-FM/terrestrial radio.
