Chinatown Lot 45 - Community Comment

CCC-LA

Lot 45 is county owned land near the heart of Chinatown. Many outsider developers have been eyeing the property to serve their own interests for years, but we believe that this public land can and should serve the needs of the Chinatown community it resides in.

100% affordable housing, a critical need in our low-income neighborhood that has seen drastic spikes in market rate developments, has drawn much support from elected officials such as County Supervisor Hilda Solis.

Chinatown Community Coalition of Los Angeles (CCC-LA) is a community-based coalition of residents, nonprofit organization leaders, housing justice advocates, representatives of family associations, school community members, business owners, property owners, and other community-related stakeholders.

Our mission is to promote, maintain, and develop with interested stakeholders, a shared vision for our 170-year-old Chinatown community in Los Angeles that focuses on sustaining and improving our diverse, multi-ethnic neighborhood and protecting our legacy businesses, historically and culturally significant institutions, and residents who have among the lowest household incomes in Los Angeles. Currently, we are involved with ensuring community partnering and participation in the master planning process so that underutilized Los Angeles County-owned properties, such as Lot 45 and other related or relevant properties in L.A. Chinatown, are developed or redeveloped in accordance and consistently with the shared community vision.

Lot 45 in Chinatown is a central property space that should be developed for community purposes and not in support of gentrifying businesses or luxury housing developments. Help reimagine Chinatown Lot 45 into a community focused space for living, working and doing business!
