Co-sponsor HB 2723/SB 2462 — 4,000 witness slips can't be ignored
The State of Illinois is actively suppressing human rights advocacy and shielding Israel from accountability by retaliating against companies that refuse to participate in the Israeli genocide.
After receiving over 4,000 letters from constituents, and securing 35 co-sponsors, the bill to repeal this disastrous 2015 law was finally assigned to committee and scheduled to be heard this Thursday morning. That kicked off the predictable deluge of targeted public pressure from AIPAC and ADL aligned organizations.
What they didn’t count on was the groundswell of support from all corners of the state to completely outnumber all the folks making bad faith arguments about how this repeal bill is anything but a pro-human rights and pro-civil rights policy.
We were gaining momentum with nearly 200 slips per hour pouring in to support the passage of HB2723.Before the gap in support could become embarrassing, the scheduled hearing for HB2723 was canceled, just before we reached 4,000 witness slips.
Now we need your help more than ever. Join us in sending a message to our leaders in Springfield that we will not be silenced and we will not stop until our state is no longer running cover for an active genocide.
Add your name today to urge your elected representatives to co-sponsor this critical legislation, repeal the anti-boycott law, and uphold universal human rights.
