Congress must act now to protect the pensions of millions of participants in multiemployer pensions and shore up the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (“PBGC”). The existing crisis in multiemployer pensions has been deeply exacerbated by the COVID-19 market collapse and the government mandated shutdown of the economy. Without U.S Government assistance, this crisis will threaten the existence of the 200,000 employers and millions of retirees, active workers, and their families.

As the crisis hits already-troubled pension funds like the AFM-EPF, it's up to AFM members across the country to demand that we aren't left behind. We all must call on Congress to support rehabilitation for multiemployer pensions in the next COVID relief bill.
