Demand Investigation Into Staff Failure at Primate Lab

Staff at the Wisconsin National Primate Research Center (WNPRC) have shown they are incapable of properly caring for the thousands of primates at the facility.
A baby monkey needlessly underwent sedation, an eye exam, blood collection, intubation, and relocation to an MRI suite before it was discovered that it was the incorrect animal.
Then, “the same infant was sedated for a routine physical exam, TB testing, and blood collection” to get certain tissues ready for transplant. This put the baby monkey over the lab's limit of no more than 20% of blood taken in a period of 30 days. They drained more than 20% of the animal’s blood in just 15 days.
We have asked for an investigation into the circumstances that led to this baby monkey’s cruel experience, so that it won’t happen again. Please join us in calling for this investigation.
