Demand Transparency - Keep PGCPS Public

Prince George's County is on the verge of entering into an Alternative Financing Public-Private Partnership (P3) for the construction of six middle schools.   It is proposed that the P3 will utilize private capital and the 30-year corporate contract will include the Financing, Construction, Operation & Maintenance and Capital Repair & Replacement of these schools. The properties will be handed back to the school system at the end of 30 years. The total cost of the contract is expected to be around $1 billion.

As Prince George's residents, parents and tax payers, how do we evaluate if this is a good deal or if this is a boondoggle? With the Purple Line project - also a P3 - having collapsed around us in the last month, what is the confidence with which we can approach this proposal?

We need the full financial Value for Money analysis and transparency and accountability in the process by which elected officials are being asked to vote on this project.
