UPMC chose to end gender-affirming care for all trans people under 19 years old starting June 30, 2025. All trans clients under 19 are being forcibly tapered off hormone therapy and puberty blockers over the following 3-6 months. This is incredibly dangerous to the mental and physical health and safety of our teens and young adults, putting their literal lives at risk. UPMC claims it is simply trying to be in compliance with the Trump administration. But there are no laws to enforce this. They are voluntarily doing more harm to trans people than the government is capable of. Donald Trump cannot do to trans people in Pittsburgh what UPMC is doing. Only UPMC Leadership can do this. Gender affirming care is legal in Pennsylvania and there are national, state, and city laws protecting this critical healthcare. We stand up to UPMC leadership and demand they immediately reinstate healthcare for trans youth! Gender-affirming care saves lives! We cannot stand by and watch as they endanger our community. We will not accept UPMC's decision to cave into fascist fearmongering. We must fight like hell for our youth.
