Denounce the NC Attack on Women, the Poor, and Our Democracy
Take action and send a letter demanding that Senate leader Philip Berger and House speaker Tim Moore stop the attacks on democracy and provide access to universal healthcare, equal and fair opportunity to vote, educational opportunities, justice and public safety for all.
Last week, the NC General Assembly passed another attack on North Carolina’s poor and low income communities by trying to pass an abortion ban that they say is ‘pro-life.’
If it were to become law, this bill would effectively ban abortions for poor and working women throughout the state who, for the past decade, have already been denied life-saving health care by the General Assembly’s refusal to expand Medicaid. There is nothing pro-life about this.
It is clear to us that the same people who block reproductive rights block gun laws; the same people who block gun laws block health care; those who block health care also block living wages; the same people who block living wages block voting rights. We cannot accept this policy violence anymore. We must call it what it is: sin.
We must act as the moral fusion movement we are — one that uplifts all people in our state and fights to end immoral attacks across the nation.
Join us in denouncing extremist legislators’ push for a 12-week abortion ban. Send a letter to Senate leader Philip Berger and House speaker Tim Moore to tell them we will not stand for the latest example of their attack on our democracy and join us in demanding support for the state’s poor.
