End Seattle Aquarium Capture of Wild Octopus for Display

Captivity is cruelty! We need your help to protect wild Giant Pacific Octopuses from being captured and displayed at the Seattle Aquarium. Every year, they are taken from their natural habitat in the Puget Sound for exhibition, causing significant stress and disruption to their lives. They are returned to their homes only when they are ready to reproduce and die shortly after. Living inside a tiny tank for the amusement of humans is no way for a wild animal to thrive.

Keeping Octopuses in captivity is fundamentally cruel due to their high intelligence, sensitivity, and complex needs that cannot be adequately met in artificial environments. Ethical considerations, along with the potential physical and psychological harm to the animals, highlight the importance of preserving their natural habitats and promoting conservation through non-invasive educational methods.

Contact the Seattle Aquarium leadership and ask that they end the capture of wild Giant Pacific Octopus for display at the aquarium. Please share this alert far and wide.
