Fair Go for Dulwich Hill redevelopment

Inner West Council has released a draft development plan for consultation called Fairer Future for the Inner West. The plan unfairly targets Dulwich Hill for a huge proportion of the increased density - without providing the investment to support it. This includes:
Over 6 times more development than other Inner West suburbs: Dulwich Hill, Ashfield, and Marrickville are being asked to absorb two-thirds of all new housing in the Inner West. Meanwhile, Balmain, Rozelle, Birchgrove, Annandale, and Haberfield won’t receive a single new home under the plan.
Tiny increase in public space: Only 20cm² public space per additional resident will be delivered - less than 135 times less than NSW Government benchmarks. Dulwich Hill north of New Canterbury Road will receive zero new public space despite big density increases.
Limited firm streetscape improvements : Limited or no firm commitments to deliver streetscape improvements or active transport links as part of development approvals along key corridors (including New Canterbury Road, Marrickville Road and Hercules Street).
Reduced tree canopy: The Plan will reduce Dulwich Hill’s low and declining tree canopy of less than 15% (compared to a target of 40%).
To make sure Dulwich Hill is treated fairly under the plan, fill out your details to make a submission to Council. Get in quick as consultation closes on 6 July.
Thank you!
