Flame Retardants

The cancer epidemic is leaving its mark on families all over Maine, but firefighters are getting hit even harder than most.

Firefighters are getting cancer at alarming rates -- sometimes more than DOUBLE the cancer rates in the general public. Strong science has linked many of the chemical “flame retardants” firefighters are exposed to on the job with multiple types of cancer.

There's a bill in Augusta right now-- LD 182 -- that would get toxic flame retardants out of Maine furniture.

GOOD NEWS: LD 182 passed out of Committee with strong support.

BAD NEWS:  Out of state chemical industry lobbyists are in the State House and are doubling down to kill our bill.  They are talking to Legislators every day asking them to vote against it.

Your State Rep and State Senator work for you, not for these lobbyists.  They need to hear from us now.

Please take a minute to fill out this form sending an email asking your State Legislators to support LD 182!
