Update on #FreeVincentJobo – How You Can Support Him Now

Vincent Jobo playing with the NOLA Gold Rugby Team.

Dear friends,

We want to share an important update with you about Vincent. On Tuesday, September 16th, Vincent was deported to South Africa. He has now arrived safely in Cape Town, where a few close friends are offering him immediate support. While we are relieved, he is free from detention, returning to a country where he has faced so much pain will not be easy.

As Vincent begins the difficult journey of rebuilding his life after detention and deportation, he will need resources to access mental health support and cover basic life needs. We are sharing this GoFundMe so that you can continue to stand with him in this next chapter.

Although this is not the outcome we had hoped for, we firmly believe that your support made a real difference. By signing his petition, contacting members of Congress, and sharing his story on social media and the press, we helped ensure Vincent was not forgotten or left to languish indefinitely in ICE detention. Instead, today, he is free from cages and finally able to begin seeking care and healing on his own terms.

Vincent’s resilience throughout his months in detention has been extraordinary. He chose to break the silence about the injustices stacked against him and, in doing so, inspired so many of us to fight harder for justice. Now that he is free from detention, we believe Vincent can once again work toward building a dignified life, supported by his community near and far.

Thank you for standing alongside Vincent through this struggle. Please consider contributing and sharing his GoFundMe so he can access the care and stability he needs to recover and move forward.
