Give Texans Access to Data about Oil and Gas Companies That Violate the Law
The Texas Railroad Commission is failing the people of Texas. Even the most basic information about which oil and gas producers are receiving complaints for polluting the air or water is almost impossible to get. Are any of those complaints resulting in fines or other enforcement actions? Are the same companies repeatedly violating the law? All of these questions could be answered if the agency had an online searchable database.
That's what the committee substitute for Senate Bill 568 calls for.
