Give your voice to support Students!
Schools in the Rochester City School District (RCSD) do not receive enough funding to meet the needs of their students. That means students do not receive the support they need to succeed.
Every year the Regents publishes the amount RCSD needs to provide a sound basic education to its students. Every year the State provides significantly less than that amount. This year the difference between what they need and what they will receive is $86 Million.
This chronic underfunding harms students and stops them from getting the quality education they deserve.
Governor Cuomo is ultimately in control of NY State's budget. He chooses every year to underfund RCSD. The State Constitution guarantees the right to a public education. If Governor Cuomo campaigned on a platform amending the State Constitution to provide less money to public schools, would you support him? Yet this is what he does every year, knowing that it causes suffering to children in Rochester, NY.
Please help us hold him accountable for that choice by sending a letter to ask him to meet his constitutional obligation to fund our children's futures.
