Governor Malloy: Reject an Anti-Worker Budget

Alert_email_blast_template
Republican lawmakers — with the help of a few Democrats — on September 16 passed a state budget that attacks collective bargaining, privatizes UConn, reduces teachers' earnings and displaces school support staff. From silencing union members' voices to eliminating cost of living increases for retirees, the two-year fiscal blueprint represents an affront to the values of our state's labor movement.

To add insult to injury, the scheme is not even balanced; according to the legislature's non-partisan fiscal office, it creates $6 billion in deficits over the next five years.

The governor has since publicly declared his intent to veto this anti-worker budget, but faces a pressure campaign financed by anti-union special interests to sign it into law.

That's why it’s important for him to hear from all of us now. Otherwise, we risk a budget balanced on the backs of working people and that decimates Connecticut’s qualify of life, shattering hopes and dreams for generations to come.
