Please Take Action Today to Protect the Blackwater Canyon Rail Trail!

The Blackwater Canyon Trail is a heart line – a ten-mile natural artery that connects the upper and lower regions of Tucker County. The Canyon Trail forms a key link in an extensive regional trail network that is enjoyed by thousands of recreational hikers and bikers each year.

Over recent years, much of the Trail's upkeep has relied on volunteers' hard work and dedication. A lack of Forest Service upkeep and severe weather have led to significant erosion and a major landslide in the historic Big Run section of the Canyon Trail. Cut-stone culverts built by community ancestors are at risk. Bikers and hikers – families -- face serious hazards. Delay is unacceptable. Stewardship of public lands, and a robust recreational economy -- are at stake – the Forest Service must fix the problem now!
