Here’s Our Chance: Let's Build Affordable Housing in Peoplestown!

Peoplestown has a great opportunity to create more housing options for our low-income and formerly unhoused neighbors, but we need your support!

A developer is requesting public funding from the City of Atlanta to build 37 homes, 31 of which are for low-income individuals with 7 reserved for individuals transitioning out of homelessness.

Despite the Mayor’s commitment to building 20,000 new affordable units across the city, the current City procedure defers to self-selected members of the neighborhood before granting the necessary public funding to make projects like this possible. Some Peoplestown residents are opposing this great project, so we need your voice to ensure these homes will be available to our neighbors in need.

That’s where you come in.  How can you help?

  1. Are you a resident of Adair Park, Capitol Gateway, Mechanicsville, Peoplestown, Pittsburgh, or Summerhill? Attend May’s NPU-V meeting at Pittman Park Recreation Center (950 Garibaldi St SW) on Monday, May 8th at 7:00pm.
  2. Click through to email the Atlanta Housing Authority, Invest Atlanta Director Vickey Roberts, Councilmember Jason Winston, and Mayor Andre Dickens and his housing advisors to voice your support for the project.

We invite all Atlanta residents to join our Peoplestown neighbors in the letter writing action. Click the link on this page to 'Start Writing.'
