Hold AI Corporations Accountable for Environmental Harm

Artificial intelligence depends on immense computing power—and that power comes at a serious environmental cost. Each AI query or model training session consumes large volumes of electricity and millions of gallons of freshwater to keep data centers cool. For example, training just one large AI model can emit as much carbon as five cars over their entire lifetime, and data centers operated by major tech companies often consume over a billion gallons of water annually, much of it drawn from already-stressed local water supplies.

Yet, many tech giants continue to withhold full disclosure of their water and energy use. Some even build data centers in drought-prone areas, draining ecosystems and straining communities—all while profiting from tools that accelerate consumption and inequality.

This isn't just unsustainable—it's irresponsible.

We need urgent federal and state regulation. AI corporations must:

  • Transparently report water and energy usage.

  • Pay for the environmental costs they impose.

  • Be legally required to invest in ecosystem restoration and sustainable infrastructure.

If they can't meet these basic responsibilities, they should not be allowed to operate.

Send a letter today. Demand enforceable environmental protections for the AI industry before the damage becomes irreversible.
