H.R. 30 Harms Instead of Helping Survivors

Urge members of Congress to OPPOSE H.R. 30 because it would harm rather than help survivors of gender-based violence.
WHY?
- H.R.30 amends the Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) to unnecessarily expand the definition of domestic violence for inadmissibility and deportability purposes without considering the impact on survivors.
- H.R. 30 would fail to protect survivors by undermining existing laws that enhance their access to safety and security.
- H.R. 30 is overbroad and duplicative of existing law that already subjects perpetrators of violence to deportation; it does nothing to alleviate the primary barriers to safety and stability for survivors.
- H.R. 30 lacks appropriate and necessary waivers to protect survivors.
