I Live in Ward 4 & I Support Dance Loft's Green Arts Complex Interior Update

Ward 4 Residents - you showed up 5 years ago and let the local ANC and zoning board representatives that you believe in Dance Loft's future arts complex and want us as a cultural anchor. We need you again.

This Tuesday, March 24th, ANC4E commissioners will consider an interior-only change to Dance Loft's city-approved redevelopment project.

The stakes could not be higher.

The requested change will allow the project to move forward financially in DC's current extremely difficult financial environment. This window of opportunity follows 3 years in which the city had literally no funding for affordable projects like ours. Now, we have our chance.

We've proposed a modest interior-only change to right-size the units, increase the unit count from 101-133, and make them all affordable workforce housing for teachers, artists, entry-level federal workers, and more. Expert studies and DC agencies have also found this will not have parking impacts on nearby residents.

Supporters must act now, and it is essential that the ANC allow this practical adjustment so the project can proceed. If the ANC does not support the modification, the Zoning Commission is unlikely to offer its required approval, and the project will likely die.

Meanwhile, the project's original opponents are loudly objecting to the interior layout change, in a thinly-veiled effort to kill the project. They are loud, and you must make your voice heard.

Thank you for your time and consideration. Dance Loft looks forward to your letter - with the deadline coming up, please tell a friend!
