The Government of Israel has issued full or partial demolition orders against 58 Palestinian Schools in the West Bank and East Jerusalem.  What's more, Palestinian communities are being attacked by nearby settlers to force them to move away

Recently, Senator Feinstein's letters halted the imminent demolitions of Jinba Elementary School and Al Fakheit Elementary School — but halting demolition is not enough because those orders never go away.   It's time for Congress to push Israel to repeal all demolition orders against Palestinian schools, place schoolchildren under special protection, and prosecute settler terrorism.

UPDATE: August 17, 2023: Ein Samiya School near Ramallah was demolished — the Bedouin community faced settler terrorism and had relocated to keep their families safe (see below).

UPDATE: August 14, 2023: The attorney for Jinba Elementary School in Masafer Yatta received written confirmation that the school will not be demolished until they receive a response for two pending appeals filed with the court.

UPDATE: July 24, 2023: From the attorney for Jinba Elementary School: "Today at 16.05, an hour after the new legislation has passed, the ICA sent me the decision made in Dec. 2022 to reject the building permit request for Jinba school. I think timing is not coincidental. Urgent intervention is needed."

UPDATE: June 22, 2023: The Umm Qusah School had been notified of demolition set to take place by June 21, 2023. After an appeal by their legal team, they were notified that the school will be safe while the Court evaluates their appeal

Meanwhile, in Masafer Yatta, the Khashem Al Karem School has been threatened with demolition since last year. This school is a critical lifeline in the area, with many children being able to attend school for the first time because it was built, including many children with disabilities. Protecting this school is critical to the surrounding communities

UPDATE: May 22, 2023: Ein Samiya School near Ramallah was at high risk of demolition because Israel's High Court refused their 4th appeal and put them on notice that demolition can begin any time after May 7th. These demolition orders for the only accessible elementary school, alongside the relentless barrage of harassment, violence, vandalism, and theft of their sheep from nearby Israeli settlers and the Israeli army coercively displaced the community — after 40 years in that valley, the families left their land on May 22nd.
