DEMAND JUSTICE FOR PRINCE HOLMES A VICTIM OF DANGEROUS FACIAL RECOGNITION BIAS

What is happening? Dwayne “Prince” Holmes Jr, Executive Director of Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, a dedicated New Orleans community figure who runs a youth nonprofit has been a victim of facial recognition misidentification, leading to severe damage to his reputation, character and mental health through a wanted post that the New Orleans 8th District Police Department (NOPD) spread accusing him of a crime he did not commit.

Facial Recognition is Biased and Misidentifies People Of Color:

On May 1st, a wanted post of Prince Holmes ’ drivers license was blasted online by the New Orleans 8th District Police for the crime of burglary and brandishing a weapon, a crime that Mr. Holmes did not commit. After investigation, it was found that Mr. Holmes ’ stolen ID had been used by the actual suspect and Caesar’s Casino facial recognition had identified the suspect ERRONEOUSLY as Mr. Holmes . Caesar’s Casino sent the wrong identity information to NOPD who, without performing their due diligence of confirming the identity of the subject, posted the warrant on social media and their official website.

Research has found that facial recognition has high error rates when identifying people of color, in particular black women. In 2025, Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office had to pay $200,000 to Randal Reid, a man from Georgia who was falsely accused and imprisioned for crimes in Louisiana after JPSO used facial recognition to match his indentity.

Facial Recognition Victims Deserve Justice

Mr. Holmes ’ reputation as a Executive Director at Youth Rebuilding New Orleans, where he works with youth to rebuild New Orleans and teach them construction skills, was severely tarnished by the false accusation spread by Caesar’s Casino and NOPD.

Mr. Holmes ’ seeks justice through the following demands:

• NOPD must clear Mr. Holmes ’ name completely, this means removing every trace of the false accusation obtained by dangerous facial recognition technology

• NOPD must support Mr. Holmes in getting his Global Entry reinstated after loosing it due to this false warrant

• NOPD must make a public apology to Mr. Holmes for the severe damage they have made to his reputation, character, integrity and emotional wellbeing

No one deserves to have their life upended, their character tarnished and their livelihood in jeopardy due to faulty, biased, dangerous facial recognition.
