Keep Our Schools Open and our Kids SAFE
In an extraordinary display of a lack of transparency and anti-democratic values, Mayor Adams and the NYC City Council have agreed to a budget deal that will slash the budgets of nearly every school in our city. Teachers will be let go, specials such as art, music, and drama will disappear, class sizes will enlarge, and support for our students (including those with IEPs) will diminish.
This deal was struck with no input from the teachers, staff, and administrators who are in the trenches with our kids every day. After the difficult trauma to our children from the disruptions of COVID, why are they under attack by our leadership?
The City Council is set to vote on this TODAY (June 13)!! Please write a letter demanding that they delay the vote so that a proper impact analysis may be conducted.
The care and education of our kids are in jeopardy.
