Make history. Tell your FL Senators to Support Nationwide LGBTQ Rights

Right now, LGBT people across the country, including LGBT Floridians, are not protected by our federal government. There are no explicit federal laws to protect against discrimination based on sexual orientation or gender identity in key areas of life including housing, education, public spaces and services, federally funded programs, and more. LGBT elders are particularly vulnerable to discrimination when seeking residence in long term care facilities, or disclosing their identity to healthcare professionals. With an estimated population of millions LGBT elders in the U.S. by 2030, older LGBT Americans can’t wait any longer for clear and comprehensive equality under the law.

According to Equality Florida, polls show that nearly 75% of Floridians support laws to protect LGBT people from discrimination. This is a critical moment to educate your Senators about what’s at stake. They need to see, firsthand, the depth of support for national LGBT non-discrimination protections. Opponents of LGBT equality continue to push for discriminatory bills in states across the country. They are actively trying to undermine existing protections in areas like adoption, marriage and access to basic public services and businesses.

Join us and help us make the case. Tell your Florida senators to be on the right side of history. Send a letter today to Senators Rubio and Scott to tell them why LGBT Americans in Florida and across the nation deserve nondiscrimination protections under the law.

Let our elected officials know that LGBT elders refuse to be invisible.
