Medicaid is Mental Health
Medicaid pays for 25% of all mental health care and 40% of all addiction treatment in America – more than any other insurer. At a time when America is already grappling with a mental health crisis, Congressional budget cuts to Medicaid would have catastrophic consequences for millions of people.
Medicaid and mental health are inseparable — and at risk. The proposed cuts would decimate Medicaid and could impact mental health care access for up to 72 million Americans, including:
40% of children in this country
1 in 10 veterans (almost 900,000)
15 million people with disabilities
The threat to Medicaid is real and urgent – Medicaid’s fate is likely to be decided in the next 60 days.
Right now, we’re focused on May 7th, when the House of Representatives will mark up the bill that decides how much they'll slash from Medicaid funding. Your Representative needs to hear from you right away! Tell them Medicaid is Mental Health. Don’t Cut Medicaid.
Please send them an email today. When we raise our voices together, we can change their minds! We've written a draft to get you started -- you can customize it or send it as is. Thank you for stepping up!
