METRO TRANSIT: NEGOTIATE WITH YOUR WORKERS

As COVID-19 hits our communities and frontline heroes put their lives at risk to provide critical transit service, Metro Transit General Manager Wes Kooistra launched a PR campaign claiming that we’re all “in this together.” But behind the scenes, management has been treating Metro Transit workers like villains instead.

Metro Transit abandoned negotiations with the workers’ union, ATU Local 1005, and refuses to respect the collective bargaining process. They’ve canceled the Roadeo, an event workers look forward to, because they feared workers might criticize management.

Workers have responded in force, with 94% voting to reject the agency’s “final offer” and overwhelmingly authorizing union leaders to call a strike if necessary.

Instead of leading in a time of crisis, management has gone missing, and workers have been left asking, “Where’s Wes?”

Local 1005 and its 2,350 members are demanding Metro Transit return to the negotiating table. You can support these frontline heroes by sending a letter to the Metropolitan Council. Just fill out this form!
