Minnesota Needs Comprehensive Sex Ed - Write to your Representatives about HF Bill 358

Did you know that Minnesota does not require sexual health education to be medically accurate? That's wrong, and the Minnesota legislature has the power to fix it. This past year, Minnesotans have learned why medically accurate info is essential to everyone's well-being. Write to your representatives today and tell them that should extend to Sex Ed too, and that's what #HF358 does

Our state's standards are horribly out of date, and it's time for a refresh. HF Bill 358 would simply provide Minnesota students a sexual health education that is

  • medically accurate
  • shame-free
  • culturally responsive
  • age-appropriate
  • LGBTQ inclusive
  • focused on consent, and healthy v.s. unhealthy relationships

Thirty years of public health research clearly demonstrates that young people benefit from receiving age-appropriate sex education. Comprehensive sex education (CSE) curricula have been shown to reduce the rates of both STI’s and pregnancies for young people. If passed, this bill will allow students from all areas of Minnesota to receive accurate information regarding LGBTQ communities, as well as information on healthy relationships, consent, and communication skills - critical information for young people to make healthy decisions.
