We are asking for your help in our effort to preserve funding for the New Paltz Central School District, as well as public schools across the state of New York. New Paltz Central School District wants to be able to have a chance at maintaining the level of staffing and programming we have fought so hard to restore while also being able to absorb unknown additional costs around safety and mental health.

The Governor has announced an unprecedented plan of reviewing educational state aid at least three times during the 2020-2021 school year. These reviews will very possibly result in additional diminished aid based on anticipated shortfalls in state revenue due to the COVID-19 crisis. Such reductions would make it difficult for NPCSD, as well as other schools across the state, to provide necessary services to support the academic, physical , social and emotional needs of our students. Any mid-year decrease would have to be met with internal budget cuts, resulting in possible layoffs and decreased programming.
