Once again, DC child care is at risk!

Dear Under 3 DC Supporters,

Once again, DC child care is at risk.

The mayor is directing DC government agencies to cut their current budgets (2021 fiscal year) and budgets for next year (2022 fiscal year) because of the COVID-19 shortfall. The department that oversees the city’s child care programs–the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE)–is on her list.

Will you reach out to Mayor Bowser today and tell her NOT to cut child care? Parents across the District are receiving a notice to act this week. We need you to join them!

If child care cuts happen, the centers and family child care homes that our children love could close, disrupting their learning and stability–which is more important than ever during this never-ending pandemic–and parents’ ability to work. The cuts would also potentially put hundreds of dedicated, valued early childhood educators out of work.
