Pass the SHIPS Act for American Ship Building and Repair
Congress needs to take action to strengthen push back on China's illegal and unfair global trade practices that harm American shipbuilders and threaten the U.S. Navy.
Take action now and send this letter to your members of Congress urging them to co-sponsor, support, and pass the bipartisan SHIPS for America Act/Building Ships in America Act (S. 1536 /1541 and H.R. 3151).
The SHIPS for America Act is complementary legislation to the administration’s Section 301 action with strategic investments in U.S. shipbuilding capacity introduced by U.S. Representatives John Garamendi and Trent Kelly and Senators Mark Kelly and Todd Young. It provides a substantial and comprehensive approach to rebuilding America’s ship building and repair industry through the creation of a Maritime Security Trust Fund from duties and fees under the President's Section 301 action on trade.
In March, IAM Eastern Territory General Vice President David Sullivan joined U.S. Rep. John Garamendi at the Mare Island Dry Dock in California, where they called for a revitalization of the U.S. ship building and repair industry, starting with Congress passing the SHIPS for America Act.

The SHIPS for America Act is necessary legislation to support American workers in the industry as the United States enforces fair trade practices globally.
Tell your members of Congress now: Protect American Ship Building and Repair. Protect American Workers. Pass the SHIPS for America Act.
