Please support Delaware SB 263 to reduce plastic waste & harm to animals

Ask your Delaware Legislators to support Senate Bill 263.

Urgent! Senate Bill 263 needs your support!

Please urge your Delaware State Senator and Representative to co-sponsor this important bill which will eliminate plastic beverage rings and over-wraps, starting July 1, 2025.

  • Plastic beverage rings are not accepted in Delaware's single-stream recycling program
  • They harm wildlife and contribute to microplastics in the environment
  • Microplastics are now documented to be in our bodies and contribute to health issues
  • The major beverage companies have good alternatives which use recyclable cardboard.

Micro- and nano-plastics that result from the decomposition process end up in waterways, soil and the air where they enter the human food chain. Recent studies have linked the presence of microplastics in the bloodstream to higher risks of heart attack, stroke and numerous other health issues.

“As a mountain of evidence continues to pour in about the harmful effects of plastic in our environment and in our bodies, we simply cannot afford to keep doing things the same way and hope this problem solves itself.”

Senator Trey Paradee
