Protect Fair Education in New York: Vote NO on Senate Resolution S08191

New York Senate Resolution S08191 urges schools to teach the events of 1915 as the “Armenian Genocide.” While education about history and human rights is important, this resolution promotes a one-sided and legally unsubstantiated historical claim.

Unlike the Holocaust, which has been conclusively established through international legal rulings, the classification of the 1915 events has not been recognized as genocide by any international court. The European Court of Human Rights and U.S. courts have affirmed that this issue remains a matter of historical and legal debate.

By endorsing a disputed claim as fact, S08191 risks:

  • Politicizing education

  • Promoting bias rather than balanced learning

  • Creating division and discrimination against Turkish-American students and families

If the goal is historical justice and strong education, lawmakers should rely on legal determinations and academic integrity, not political resolutions.

👉 We are asking New Yorkers to contact their State Senator and urge them to vote NO on Senate Resolution S08191.

Your voice matters in protecting fair, inclusive, and accurate education in our schools.
