Almost 2 Million Acres, Including Mount Diablo State Park, Targeted by Federal Oil and Gas Drilling Lease Expansion Plan

Earlier this month, the Trump administration released plans to open nearly 2 million acres of public lands to oil and gas drilling and fracking.

The Diablo Range is in the crosshairs (see map below). The Trump administration could potentially target land around, and in some cases maybe even in, natural treasures like Mount Diablo State Park, Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve, Pinnacles National Park, and Henry W. Coe State Park.

Some of the land that could be affected might have mineral rights beneath it that could be sold. Some is owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM).

We must keep our precious public lands intact!

Please send a comment to the Bureau of Land Management, which is tasked with managing the Trump administration’s proposal, and let them know you oppose oil and gas drilling of our public lands!

Tell the Bureau of Land Management: “NO to expanded oil and gas drilling that harms human health, makes climate change worse, and destroys the habitats and precious parks that wildlife depend on, and that we need for clean air and water.”

You can use some or all of the points below. You can also register for a public Zoom meeting on Tuesday, February 3 at 5 PM to stand up for our precious parks, wildlife, and clean air and water, and tell BLM NO to expanded oil and gas drilling.
