WEAC is closely watching a bill that would raise the early retirement age for educators from 55 to 60 and change the calculation for final average earning for new participants in the Wisconsin Retirement System. WEAC first notified members about Senate Bill 190 in our April 24 Update, and has continued to monitor its reception in the Legislature. Currently, there is no Assembly companion bill, and no public hearing is scheduled. However, it’s beneficial that educators are on the record opposing SB 190. WEAC and our partners in the Wisconsin Coalition for Retirement Security urge you to contact your senators to oppose SB 190.
