Current country conditions in Venezuela are well-documented by the U.S. government and international organizations[1]. Since TPS was first designated, conditions have only deteriorated. Arbitrary detentions, extrajudicial killings, suppression of political opposition, and a collapsing economy have made return to Venezuela unsafe for thousands of individuals. The contested election of July 28, 2024[2], has only exacerbated political repression and human rights abuses, further endangering those forced to return. The Trump administration’s reinterpretation of country conditions, which contradicts the assessment that led to the Biden administration’s extension, is unfounded and arbitrary.
