Quincy Educators Earned More Than 0%!

QEA Unit A educators worked through this entire pandemic school year without a contract. In the spring, QPS administration requested to bargain a two-year extension on the already-expired contract, to which the QEA agreed. This two-year extension would have the Unit A contract terminate at the end of August 2022, which would also be the same year that the Quincy Fire and Police Associations contracts expire. The Police and Fire Associations and the City of Quincy agreed to a 0% raise for FY21 and a 3% raise for FY22 in their two-year extensions.

However, after the most trying school year in the history of public education, the last offer that QPS put on the table for our members was a 0% raise for FY21 and a 1.25% raise for FY22. This is simply unacceptable. QEA educators worked harder than ever before through adverse conditions to provide the best education possible to the students of Quincy Public Schools. That the District does not even think the efforts of their educators are commensurate with the efforts of other public servants that serve the City is shameful. QPS still has over $1 million in federal relief monies from the 2020-2021 school year (which they have budgeted for use NEXT school year) and will receive approximately $23 million MORE in federal relief in the coming months. The City and the District has the money to illustrate that they recognize the amazing efforts of their educators through an extremely challenging school year. They need to use it!

Please send an email to Mayor Koch, the Quincy School Committee, and QPS administration to stand in support of Quincy educators who have earned better than a 1.25% salary adjustment!
