Ask Congress to contact Apple and Google leadership
On November 14th and 15th, Rebuilding Alliance is joined in Washington, DC by a distinguished Palestinian artist from the village of Umm Al Kheir, and two mapping experts from the Israeli NGO Bimkom: Planners for Planning Rights. We will meet with various Congressional offices to discuss how they can help in the effort to get Palestine on the maps. So far, Google and Apple only respond when members of Congress call them - that's why your emails and phone calls are so important!
Many members of Congress have never seen the true maps of the West Bank before. Most of them have no idea that there are so many villages missing from Apple and Google maps, and that many of them are at imminent risk of demolition. Here's how Google and Apple maps are showing the South Hebron Hills now, compared with what they should be showing. We believe that placing the villages on the maps will help to protect them from demolition by recognizing them as legitimate and permanent.
Our goal is for 10 constituents in each Congressional district to email letters and make calls to their Representatives and Senators.
Please sign your letters now, and please use the social media tools at the end of this message to ask 10 friends to sign too.
Please Note: Even after our experts head home, we will be scheduling teleconference briefings with the Congressional offices that receive constituent letters! Members of Congress feel more comfortable scheduling meetings when there is proof of constituent support, so we may copy you on our email scheduling requests to your Representative and Senators and invite you to join the teleconference briefing calls too.
