Say NO to Joseph Abruzzo as Palm Beach County Administrator

Comptroller Abruzzo has put Palm Beach County in financial risk by investing 700 million dollars of taxpayers' property taxes in Israel Bonds, a loan used by the Israeli Government to finance the Occupation of Palestine.

Months after Comptroller Abruzzo made this 700 million dollar investment, Palm Beach County fell into a 732 million dollar budget deficit. Comptroller Abruzzo has been sued by county residents for his mismanagement of county funds, but this hasn't stopped him from spreading his financial mismanagement across the state of Florida.

One of the laws Abruzzo violated in when investing in Israel Bonds is that the Bonds had a credit rating that was below the credit rating that the Palm Beach County Investment Policy stated was allowed. As a result, Abruzzo recently worked with the Israel Development Corporation to pass a bill through the Florida House of Representatives that makes it so that localities cannot have requirements for bond ratings. Meaning, that Abruzzo and any other corrupt politician in Florida, can invest in a bond even if it has a poor rating, which means the bond is likely to be a financial liability for the investor. In this case, this is not private funds being invested, it is taxpayer dollars.

Despite all of this, the Palm Beach County Commissioners have advanced Joseph Abruzzo as a finalist for the position of Palm Bech County Administrator, which will give Joseph Abruzzo access to a larger pot of money to manage for Palm Beach County. Abruzzo is clearly not responsible or fit for this role.
